Veolia Environmental Services Attains OHSAS 18001 Certification For On-Site Services At The Ohio State University

Veolia ES Technical Solutions, L.L.C., the hazardous waste division of Veolia Environmental Services North America, is pleased to announce that its on-site services group at The Ohio State University has achieved OHSAS 18001 certification.

OHSAS 18001 is an international occupational health and safety management system that provides a framework to control health and safety risks and improve the health and safety of employees. Veolia achieved OHSAS 18001 certification following successful audits conducted by NSF International Strategic Registrations. The audits included a detailed review of the groups’ written procedures, operational controls, leading metrics and improvement initiatives, as well as in-depth employee interviews and observations of their work practices.

“OHSAS 18001 Registration is tangible recognition of our commitment to ensuring that our employees go home at night in the same condition in which they started the day,” said Darek Teeters, Ohio Valley Branch General Manager for Veolia ES Technical Solutions. “It tells our employees, customers and partners that we place a high value on safety. We are obsessed with safety.”

Veolia’s on-site services to the university include packaging, transportation and disposal of chemicals and other hazardous materials from university laboratories, research facilities and hospitals.
