ODD SNACKS OVERSEAS

And in Spain, Kellogg's All-Bran cereal is served floating in hot coffee instead of cold milk. Americans might get squeamish at the thought of their favorite snacks being tweaked. But what works in the U.S. doesn't work everywhere. As food makers look for growth overseas, they're increasingly tweaking the recipes of some popular American snacks to appeal to global palates. The panel, who gathered recently at the headquarters of The Associated Press in New York, included famed French pastry chef Jacques Torres and Marilyn Haggerty, an 85-year-old columnist whose Olive Garden review went viral earlier this year. The menu included "Red Caviar" Lay's chips from Russia, Oreo cookies with mango and orange cream from China and a lemon-pepper flavored Tang drink from Saudi Arabia. The reactions were mixed.
