Atmos Energy Corporation (NYSE: ATO) said today that John S. McDill has been promoted to vice president of pipeline safety, effective immediately. McDill will be responsible for the strategic direction and plan oversight for pipeline and distribution safety and compliance. McDill will also be responsible for technical training, employee safety, security and wireless meter reading.
“The safety and reliability of our system has been, and will continue to be, our company’s highest priority,” said Marvin Sweetin, senior vice president of utility operations of Atmos Energy. “Atmos Energy has a rich history of continuous safety improvement and John brings a wealth of experience which will make our already safe system even safer.”
McDill, 47, has 25 years of experience in the energy industry and has been with Atmos Energy since the acquisition of Mississippi Valley Gas in 2002. Previously, McDill served as operations vice president of the company’s Mississippi Division. He joined Mississippi Valley Gas in 1987 as an engineer trainee in Jackson and later served as southern region vice president and Jackson District Manager.
McDill earned a Bachelor of Science degree in petroleum engineering from Mississippi State University.
