EPA Recognizes American DG Energy For Emissions Reductions Of CHP Systems

Stocks in this article: ADGE

WALTHAM, Mass., April 19, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- American DG Energy Inc. (NYSE Amex:ADGE), a leading On-Site Utility, offering clean electricity, heat, hot water and cooling solutions to hospitality, healthcare, housing and athletic facilities, was recognized for the sixth consecutive year by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Combined Heat and Power (CHP) Partnership for the carbon emissions reductions of the Company's CHP systems.

American DG Energy, a member of the CHP Partnership, was presented with a greenhouse gas reduction certificate by the EPA in recognition of the Company's contribution to efficient U.S. energy production. The 2011 certificate states that the high efficiency of the Company's CHP systems prevented an estimated 28,000 metric tons of carbon equivalents as compared to typical energy supply systems, resulting in annual carbon emissions reductions equivalent to electricity used annually by 2,920 homes. This represents a 21% increase over the Company's emissions reductions stated in the 2010 certificate.

"With Earth Day 2012 approaching on Sunday, April 22, 2012, we are pleased that our highly efficient energy systems continue to lower carbon emissions," said John N. Hatsopoulos, Chief Executive Officer of American DG Energy. "It is an honor to be recognized for improving the environment and helping our customers."

About CHP and On-Site Utility Combined heat and power (CHP) systems simultaneously produce two types of energy – heat and electricity – from one fuel source. These systems capture the heat from the engine and reuse it to heat and cool the air and water.   This two-for-one approach offers tremendous efficiency, which translates into measurable cost savings and environmental benefits.

About American DG Energy American DG Energy supplies low-cost energy to its customers through distributed power generating systems. The Company is committed to providing institutional, commercial and small industrial facilities with clean, reliable power, cooling, heat and hot water at lower costs than charged by local utilities – without any capital or start-up costs to the energy user – through its On-Site Utility energy solutions. American DG Energy is headquartered in Waltham, Massachusetts. More information can be found at www.americandg.com.
