Council On Competitiveness Economic Advisory Committee Holds Second Dialogue Focusing On The Next Competitiveness Index

WASHINGTON, April 19, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Council on Competitiveness Senior Vice President Chad Evans, and FedEx Vice President and Chief Economist Gene Huang host the Council's second Economic Advisory Committee (EAC) dialogue today. The EAC, launched by the Council on Competitiveness last year and chaired by Gene Huang, convenes leading economists from corporations, universities, labor unions, national laboratories and think tanks, to explore this century's productivity and prosperity drivers.

Today's meeting will develop a framework for the Council's flagship publication, The Competitiveness Index, the essential tool for the United States public and private sector leaders focused on the elements critical to the nation's economic success. EAC members will also refine the metrics that measure these drivers, including new factors, such as imagination capacity.

The distinguished group of EAC economists will also dialogue today with U.S. Treasury Department Assistant Secretary for Economic Policy Janice Eberly, Lincoln Center Institute Executive Director Scott Noppe-Brandon, and Brazilian Agency for Industrial Development International Affairs Manager Roberto Alvarez. The boundless promise of imagination, the relationship and strategic positioning of the two largest democracies and most significant economies in the Americas, these are just some of the leading edge issues the EAC will explore as it steers the Council's Index.

" The Competitiveness Index is a powerful platform that should shape the debate on what ought to be the economic priorities for the country," states Chairman Gene Huang. "I am pleased to be convening this group of accomplished economists to guide the Council as it begins to craft this vital document."
