CITI LATIN AMERICA ANNOUNCES EXECUTIVE MANAGEMENT TEAM IN SUPPORT OF ITS GROWTH STRATEGY FOR THE REGION

The region will be organized in five geographic markets: Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Central America & Caribbean and South America

Citi Latin America announced today the appointment of the new Executive Management Team, effective immediately, under the leadership of Francisco Aristeguieta, appointed CEO for Latin America, excluding Mexico, on January 1st, 2012.

The announcement includes the key leaders for the five regions that will encompass the new Latin America regional structure: Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Central America & Caribbean and South America. The latter will include the following countries: Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay.

“This new structure will help us drive growth in the Latin America region and strengthen our ability to further expand our business and offerings in a region that is very important for Citi,” said Francisco Aristeguieta, CEO for Citi in Latin America. “We are committed to honoring our unparalleled 200 year global legacy, which we celebrate in 2012, by playing a key role in the region, serving our clients and customers’ core banking needs and connecting the world to our clients and our clients to the world.”

Brazil and Colombia will continue to be led by Gustavo Marin and Bernardo Noreña, respectively. Additionally, Suresh Maharaj has been appointed to lead Central America and the Caribbean, and Juan Bruchou, Citi Country Officer for Citi Argentina, will be responsible for the South America cluster. Aristeguieta will oversee the Chilean market directly.

The business leadership structure in the region includes:

  • Raul Anaya, CEO for Consumer and Commercial Bank (with matrix reporting to Francisco Aristeguieta).
  • Eduardo Cruz, head of Citi Corporate and Investment Banking
  • Jaime Roblesgil, head of Citi Markets
  • Fernando Iraola, head of Citi Transaction Services
  • Alexander Van Tienhoven, head of Citi Wealth Management

“Our strategy will be focused on three main goals: Increase connectivity between the 22 markets in the Latin America region and Citi’s global network; Strengthen and empower Citi’s talent; and Deploy a customer centric approach across Citi’s businesses,” added Aristeguieta. “In today's global economic landscape, emerging markets and Latin America are increasingly important. Citi has the largest presence of any financial institution in the region and is strategically positioned to support Latin America’s fast growing economies.”
