Intellicheck Mobilisa, Inc. (NYSE Amex: IDN), a global leader in access control and wireless security systems, has been issued U.S. Patent No. 8,139,869 relating to a document comparison system. The issuance of the '869 patent brings Intellicheck Mobilisa's current portfolio to 10 U.S., 2 Canadian and 1 U.K. patents, as well as additional U.S. and International patent applications pending.
The issuance of the ‘869 patent removes limitations on a previous 18.12 patent, 7,860,318, applying the specific combination of comparison to a driver license and passport. This latest patent relates to a system and method for comparing information contained in at least two documents, but is no longer limited to just a driver license and passport. The ‘869 patent compares “like information” on different documents to determine whether the information is the same on each document. As an example, a passport is compared to a boarding pass to determine “like information” matches, for instance name and birthdate.
Steve Williams, CEO of Intellicheck Mobilisa, commented, “This latest patent issuance not only strengthens our patent portfolio, it reinforces our position as a leader in the ID reading technology market.”
