CUPERTINO, Calif. (
Apple(AAPL - Get Report) may be sued by the Justice Department over alleged e-book price fixing, according to a
Citing two people familiar with the matter,
Reuters reported that the Justice Department could sue Apple as early as Wednesday, as officials focus on deals with publishers dating back to Apple's initial iPad launch two years ago.

Simon & Schuster,
Hachette Book Group, according to
Reuters, which reported that settlements with some of the publishers could come as early as this week.
The Justice Department and three of the five publishing firms have not yet responded to
TheStreet's request for comment on this story.
"Pearson has said for some time that it is cooperating fully with any investigation into this issue, however, we have no comment on reports relating to any such investigation," explained a Pearson spokesperson, in an email to
HarperCollins declined to comment.
Shares of Apple, which hit yet another
new high on Tuesday, were up $7.62, or 1.21%, to $636.06 in premarket trading on Wednesday.
