Citi Names William Howle Head Of Commercial Banking For The U.S.
Citi (NYSE: C) today named William Howle Head of Commercial Banking for the U.S. The appointment is part of an ongoing strategy to enhance retail and commercial banking operations throughout North America under the leadership of U.S. Consumer and Commercial Banking President Cece Stewart and Global Commercial Banking Head Sunil Garg. Howle will continue his role as Chief Operating Officer of U.S. Consumer and Commercial Banking.
“Our strategy revolves around creating a culture of client excellence, and Will is ideally-suited to lead and foster that for commercial clients throughout the U.S.,” said Stewart. “As our COO, he has shown that he can develop strong teams and execute with exceptional efficiencies and results, and I know he will bring the same energy and skill to his expanded role as we continue to grow our business.”
As Head of Commercial Banking for the U.S., Howle will oversee a business unit comprised of roughly 1,000 employees. The group, which provides banking solutions to mid-sized companies, has increased its lending for six consecutive quarters. In all, Commercial Banking meets the needs of more than 100,000 mid-sized companies in 32 countries worldwide.
“Commercial banking is a growing business for Citibank, with significant opportunities to expand our efforts to support mid-sized companies worldwide,” said Garg. “With his breadth of experience and focus on providing unparalleled service to clients, Will is well-suited to help us leverage those opportunities in the U.S.”
Howle has served as Chief Operating Officer of Citibank’s U.S. Consumer and Commercial Banking operation since January 2011. He began his career at Bank of America, working in its Commercial Banking group before running its Wealth Management business in South Carolina and Georgia. Later, he joined Wachovia to start its private advisory group, and then served as Chief Operating Officer for Small Business and Retail Banking. At Morgan Stanley Private Bank, he led a National Sales Team that supported 18,000 Financial Advisors.Select the service that is right for you!
