CSR plc (LSE:CSR)(NASDAQ:CSRE) today announced that SiRFstarV™ Architecture and SiRFusion™ Platform has been named a finalist in the EE Times and EDN
2012 UBM Electronics ACE Awards
in the Innovator of the Year category. The awards programme honours the people and companies behind the technologies and products that are changing the world of electronics.
The winners will be announced at the ACE (Annual Creativity in Electronics) awards ceremony on Tuesday, March 27 at The Fairmont San Jose during
, a new UBM Electronics conference and expo which builds on the rich foundation of training, education and products available at ESC, the Embedded Systems Conference and Exhibition.
“The new ACE Awards program, presented for the first time by both EE Times and EDN, provides us with an opportunity to recognize the technologies that have made a difference in the way we work, live and play over the past year,” said Junko Yoshida, Editor in Chief, EE Times, UBM Electronics. “We congratulate the finalists on their innovations and leadership in the electronics industry. Additionally, we look forward to our awards ceremony in March to celebrate the innovation, creativity and contributions of the engineering community.”
and SiRFusion™ Platform “fuses” location information from multiple technologies to make extremely reliable and accurate indoor location and navigation a reality. The SiRFstarV architecture introduces a new approach to location and navigation.
Instead of relying solely on GPS
to determine position, the SiRFstarV Architecture gathers real-time information from GPS, Galileo, Glonass and Compass satellites, multiple radio systems, such as Wi-Fi® and cellular, and multiple MEMS sensors, like accelerometers, gyros and compasses. It then combines this real-time information with ephemeris data, mapping, cellular base station and Wi-Fi access point location data and other cloud-based aiding information using the SiRFusion Platform.
“We are thrilled to be named a 2012
UBM Electronics ACE Awards’
Innovator of the Year finalist and extremely proud of our team that defined and developed this technology,” said Kanwar Chadha, Chief Marketing Officer for CSR and founder of SiRF. “The SiRFusion Platform and SiRFstarV Architecture are the latest innovations by our team dedicated to promoting our vision of enhancing the mainstream consumer experience with a variety of location-enabled services and applications indoors and outdoors, seamlessly.”
A panel of EE Times editors narrowed down the entries to five finalists in each category, based on the criteria set forth in an online submission form. Winners are determined from among the finalists by a panel of independent judges, including
