Siemens is starting to build the Siemens Electronics Works Chengdu (SEWC) in Chengdu High Tech zone today. This is the largest modern digital factory of Siemens in China. The completion of first phase and production is targeted by early 2013. Covering 40,000 square meters at West Park of Chengdu High Tech Development Zone.
The new factory will create more than 1000 new jobs in Chengdu and Sichuan province. Mayor of Chengdu, Ge Hong Lin, joined Dr. Marc Wucherer, President of Industry China, for laying the foundation of the factory. Wucherer said " Chengdu is of great importance to Siemens' footprint in western China. Siemens will continually support and involve in Chengdu's economic and social development. SEWC is value added to the local economy as well as to Sichuan's industrial upgrade."
