350 Mattress Firm Employees To Participate In Dallas Community Service Day
Mattress Firm, Inc., one of the nation’s leading specialty mattress retailers, today announced that about 350 company employees will be participating in its first annual Community Service Day in Dallas on Thursday, March 1. The theme of the day will be “Give Big, Feel Happy”, with employees volunteering their time to build bikes and stuff backpacks for children, assemble care packages for military personnel overseas and make renovations to the Gladney Center for Adoption in Fort Worth, TX.
Mattress Firm’s Community Service Day will run from 10:00am- 3:00pm on Thursday, March 1 and start at The Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center. Mark Cuban, owner of The Dallas Mavericks, will kick off the day at 10:30 with a speech to the volunteers. The volunteers will then divide into groups to work on several community service projects, including:
- Assembling Children’s Bikes - From 11:15am-12:00pm volunteers will be assembling 100 bikes to be donated to the Grand Prairie Boys & Girls Club of America from 3:30pm-4:00pm
- Stuffing Backpacks - 100 backpacks will be stuffed with school supplies from 11:15am-12:00pm and delivered to four Dallas Independent School District schools from 1:15pm-12:00pm. Volunteers will also be reading books to school children when the backpacks are delivered.
- Assembling Care Packages for Overseas Troops - From 11:15am-12:00pm care packages will be assembled, and delivered to Dallas VA North Texas Healthcare System from 1:15pm-2:30pm.
- Improving Gladney Center for Adoption - Volunteers will deliver 12 new mattresses, paint, refurbish and plant gardens at the Fort Worth Gladney Center for Adoption, from 12:15pm-3:00pm.
