Apple's Siri to Help Steer Mercedes-Benz Cars
NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- As if drivers needed another distraction, now some of them will have access to their Apple (AAPL) iPhone apps in the car, courtesy of Siri.
Daimler (DAI) has announced that it will be integrating Apple's personal assistant, Siri, into the A-Class Mercedes Benz line, allowing drivers to use the apps on their iPhones via voice commands. The program, known as Drive Kit Plus, will work in conjunction with Mercedes-Benz's Digital DriveStyle App.

Motorists would be able to send text messages (at least this is slightly less dangerous than the alternative), listen to music, update statuses on Facebook and Twitter, as well as other social networks. (Do we really need to be updating our status while driving? Aren't there enough opportunities to do that during the day?)
The Drive Kit Plus will come pre-installed with Twitter, Facebook, and Aupeo Personal Radio.
The new feature will be shown at the 2012 Geneva auto show next month and will debut in all A-Class vehicles beginning this fall. Apple shares are higher in Tuesday trading, up 1.2% to $532.12.
