Do women feel guilty about
having sex on Valentine’s Day? Do they feel pressure from their partner to have more sex? According to women surveyed by the TheNest.com 2012 Sex Survey, yes and yes. To uncover what’s
going on behind bedroom doors, TheNest.com, a lifestyle site for young couples, surveyed more than 500 women who shared their biggest sex distractions and turnoffs, where they’re having sex and whether they feel society puts any added pressure on them to have more or less sex.
“Whoever said married women lose interest in their sex lives didn’t talk to our members,” says Carley Roney, editor in chief of TheNest.com. “This tell-all survey featured on TheNest.com reveals everything from how often married couples are having sex – and more important, how satisfied they are – to whether they’re still attracted to their partners and whether they think about cheating.”

Quality over quantity?
32% of couples have sex only two times or less per month. In fact, 13% only have sex once a month or less! Not surprisingly then, more than half of women (56%) say they wish they had sex more often.
So what’s the biggest distraction from sex in the bedroom? The boob tube is taking away from boob time, with 16% of couples getting distracted from sex by their TV. Other offenders? Pets in the bedroom, with 13% of couples weirded out when their pets are nearby. For others, 12% are distracted by their cell phones. Sometimes, technology isn’t a good thing.
Fake it ’til you make it.
So when they
having sex…more than 3 out of 10 women (36%) don’t even orgasm every time. In fact, 1 in 10 women say they’re faking it and their partner doesn’t even know it. Maybe questionable hygiene or awkward groping are the culprits? They’re the biggest turnoffs to 26% and 21% of women.
Cheating’s on the mind.
1 in 10 married women (11%) have thought about cheating on their spouse. At the same time, nearly 1 in 10 (8%) are less attracted to their partners now that they’re married, and 18% say they have had better sex with other partners than their spouse.
Sex isn’t as adventurous as some steamy sex scenes make it out to be
.76% have never had sex in the kitchen, and 93% have never had sex in the office. Looks like the sexy romp in the supply closet after hours might actually be just a fantasy for most. So while the majority keep it to the bedroom, almost half of couples (45%) are having sex in their living rooms. Hopefully those couch cushions are getting a regular dry-cleaning!
We all love to talk about our sex lives, but to whom are women talking? While the majority talk to friends, a shocking 1 in 10 (8%) gab to their mothers. Also surprising? Just because they’re not having sex in the office doesn’t mean they’re not talking about it – 15% of women talk to their coworkers about their sex lives.
Do special occasions matter?
One in four married couples
have sex on their wedding night because they were too tired. Luckily, 74% of women say their wedding anniversary usually results in sex, compared with 67% who say the same for Valentine’s Day. But how do they feel about this? Well, 41% of women say they feel guilty if they don’t have sex on days that mark a special occasion.
How much is enough?
37% of women
feel pressured by society and friends
to have more sex with their partner. Plus, 36% also felt this pressure from their partner.
