Greenberg Traurig's Growing Global Energy And Infrastructure Practice Adds Energy Shareholder Nicolas Borda And 2 Associates
MEXICO CITY, Feb. 10, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Prominent energy attorney Nicolas Borda has joined international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP in its Mexico City office as a shareholder in the Global Energy and Infrastructure Practice. He brings with him associates Rodrigo Vazquez del Mercado and Hector Sanchez Fernandez. Prior to joining Greenberg Traurig, Borda was the partner in charge of the energy practice at Borda y Quintana, S.C. Attorneys at Law in Mexico City. Borda's previous firm was one of only three firms ranked by Chambers & Partners in Band 1 in Energy & Natural Resources in Mexico in 2011 and 2012. He will work closely with his U.S.-based counterparts in the firm's Energy Practice in Houston and other offices. Admitted to practice law in both Mexico and New York, Borda has more than 15 years of experience leading major international energy transactions, including energy privatizations in Latin America, such as YPFB in Bolivia and Petroperu and Electrolima in Peru. Borda was an advisor to the Ministry of Energy for the privatization of the secondary petrochemical plants of Pemex-Petroquimica in 1997. At Greenberg Traurig, his practice will continue to focus on energy and natural resources-related transactions and infrastructure projects in the oil and gas and alternative energy and power industries. "We're delighted to have someone of Nicolas' caliber join our global energy and infrastructure team in Mexico City," said Patricia Menendez-Cambo, chair of the Global Practice and co-chair of the Global Energy & Infrastructure Practice. "His leadership and experience in the energy and cross border transactions position us to expand even further our international reach, giving us the ability to serve clients worldwide on important infrastructure projects." Borda is a frequent lecturer and author on the topics of energy, infrastructure and international business. He was named one of the world's leading energy and natural resources lawyers in several legal rankings and guides, including those published by Euromoney Legal Media Group, Best Lawyers and Chambers & Partners.
