Spread Betting Offers Women A Long Term Financial Strategy

LONDON, February 10, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --

The number of women opening Spread Betting accounts with City Index has risen by 1434% in the past decade with the number of trades being placed rising by 194% since 2007.

A spokesman for City Index commented: "We are seeing a rise in women taking control of their personal finances," adding: "[Women] are becoming more open to the opportunities retail trading provides."

Low Risk Strategy

Since 2007, female trade sizes have halved implying that they are making more trades with smaller amounts.

This long term strategy offers a lower individual trading risk, giving an insight into how the female trader's mind works.

A study into the behaviour of male and female workers in the Netherlands finance industry showed female financial professionals took a more 'contextual' approach to risk analysis.

Fiona Cincotta has been a trader at City Index since 2006. Working on the European sales trading desk, she is permitted to offer advice to clients.

Talking about the gender dynamic on the trading floor, Cincotta states: "There has been a change [since 2006]. On my immediate desk I am still surrounded by men, but across the floor there are more women traders than there ever were before."

Spread Betting and CFD trading are leveraged products which can result in losses greater than your initial deposit. Ensure you fully understand the risks.

Spread Betting

Spread Betting is a derivatives product, allowing you to trade on the price movements of thousands of financial markets including indices, shares, currencies, commodities and more.

You can use spread bets to speculate on price movements irrespective of whether the markets are rising or falling.
