Steve Jobs FBI File Surfaces

NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- The Federal Bureau of Investigation on Thursday posted on its Web site a file of Apple(AAPL) co-founder Steve Jobs.

The 191-page document reveals that Jobs was being considered for a White House position under President George H.W. Bush as part of the President's Export Council. The council is a group of business leaders who help advise the president on methods of boosting exports.

It also contained the results of an FBI background check on Jobs, in which several individuals interviewed commented on his past drug use as well as his tendency to "twist the truth and distort reality in order to achieve his goals." Jobs was also not supportive of his daughter Lisa who was born out of wedlock and her mother, the file said.

The file was released under a Freedom of Information act request.
