Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold Boosts Dividend

PHOENIX (AP) — Mining company Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold Inc. it will boost its annual stock dividend to $1.25 per share from $1 per share.
The company said Tuesday the bigger dividend reflects its strong financial position and positive outlook for 2012. The prices of gold and other metals have risen sharply over the last year, and that means bigger profits for companies like Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold. The company said it will pay its dividend quarterly. The first dividend of 31.25 cents per share will be paid in May, the company said.
