New York Giants Win Super Bowl XLVI

INDIANAPOLIS (TheStreet) -- The New York Giants defeated the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLVI for the franchise's fourth championship title.

Eerily reminiscent of their comeback win against the Patriots four years ago in Super Bowl XLII, the Giants trailed 17-15 late in the fourth quarter before quarterback Eli Manning threw a 38-yard pass to Mario Manningham to put the Giants at midfield. Eight plays later, Ahmad Bradshaw ran six yards to score the game-winning touchdown. After the Giants missed a two-point conversion and the Patriots were unable to mount a comeback, the game ended with a final score of 21-17.

Manning was named Super Bowl XLVI MVP, as he completed 30 of 40 pass attempts for 296 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions. Wide receiver Hakeem Nicks caught 10 receptions and had 109 receiving yards overall.

In losing, Patriots quarterback Tom Brady completed 27 passes out of 41 attempts for 276 yards and two touchdowns, although he threw one interception in the game. New England tight end Aaron Hernandez caught the ball 8 times for 67 yards and one touchdown.
