Barrington's Take: Higher One is a new addition to the Best Ideas List for 2012 as the firm's analysts say Higher One offers investors an appealing long term growth story and is trading at an attractive valuation.

"Higher One is a unique growth story through providing technology and payment services to the higher education industry," the analysts write. "We believe the company is capable of generating consistent compound annual growth that includes increases in revenue of at least 25%, with annual growth of 30% in both adjusted net income and adjusted [earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization]."

7. PRGX Global (PRGX)

Company Profile: PRGX Global provides recovery audit services to businesses and government agencies having numerous payment transactions.

Current Share Price: $6.15

Potential Upside from Dec. 31: 51% based on a price target of $9

Barrington's Take: Barrington says that after eight consecutive quarters of year-over-year revenue growth, PRGX "is no longer a turnaround story but an emerging growth story," which is why it remains on the Best Ideas List.

"That said, we expect 2012 to be even better as management continues to focus on execution," the analysts wrote. "We believe it is reasonable that a well-capitalized, unique business services company like PRGX Global, assuming the growth recovery continues, could be conservatively worth 6 8x forward EBITDA a year from now."
