Sara Lee Adds More Coffee Before Split
NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Sara Lee (SLE) said Monday it agreed to buy Dutch cafe store operator CoffeeCompany as part of its strategy to "create a pure-play coffee and tea company poised for strong growth."
The current management of CoffeeCompany will run the combined network of 60 cafes being acquired.
The transaction is slated to close in about a month, Sara Lee said in a press release. Financial terms of the deal weren't disclosed.
Sara Lee earlier this year said it plans to split into two companies -- one focused on meats in North America, the other geared to the international coffee and tea business.
