NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Affymetrix (Nasdaq:AFFX) hit a new 52-week low Friday as it is currently trading at $4.02, below its previous 52-week low of $4.04 with 17,879 shares traded as of 9:40 a.m. ET. Average volume has been 1.2 million shares over the past 30 days.

Affymetrix has a market cap of $298.1 million and is part of the technology sector and electronics industry. Shares are down 19.5% year to date as of the close of trading on Thursday.

Affymetrix, Inc. engages in the development, manufacture, sale, and servicing of consumables and systems for genetic analysis in the life sciences and clinical healthcare markets.
