Fortress Receives The Navy SEAL Foundation’s 2011 Patriot Award

Fortress Investment Group LLC (NYSE: FIG) was named the recipient of the Navy SEAL Foundation’s 2011 Patriot Award at the Foundation’s Fifth Annual Benefit on December 1. Fortress was selected by the Foundation based on the extent of its charitable giving, particularly to causes supporting military groups and veterans, its commitment as an employer to the veterans’ community, and a broad range of programs and discounts provided to veterans through Fortress’s portfolio companies.

“We are humbled and honored to receive the Patriot Award and to be recognized by the Navy SEAL community,” said Fortress CEO Dan Mudd. “The Navy SEAL Foundation has done tremendous work in assisting those who take on hardship, uncertainty and risk as a matter of routine. We can not begin to adequately thank the members of the SEAL community and others who serve and sacrifice on our nation’s behalf.”

“A number of Foundation board members are former Navy SEALs now working on Wall Street, and we are very familiar with Fortress, their people and their culture,” said Mike Martin, chairman of the Foundation’s Benefit and a former Navy SEAL. “Led by former Marine, Dan Mudd, Fortress supports the veterans’ community in many ways, and we believe it is a company that exemplifies the SEALs’ ‘All in All the Time’ credo. We also wanted to recognize the tireless efforts of Fortress Managing Director Drew Fox in supporting the Foundation over the past decade.”

The Navy SEAL Foundation was established to provide immediate and ongoing support to Navy SEALs, other members of the Naval Special Warfare (NSW) community, and their families. The Foundation provides assistance to families of NSW personnel killed or wounded in combat or training, scholarships and educational assistance to active duty personnel, their spouses and children, family events to boost morale for NSW family members whose spouses/fathers can spend up to 60% of their time actively deployed, and a broad range of other assistance focused on ensuring that no member of the NSW community has any doubt where to go in times of need or adversity.
