Hawaii Thanksgiving Weekend Gas Prices Hit Record High

Gasoline prices in Hawaii were the highest ever for a Thanksgiving weekend this year, despite inching down another penny from last week, according to AAA Hawaii's Weekend Gas Watch.

The average statewide price of a gallon of unleaded was $4.14, which was 70 cents higher than the previous record price for the holiday, set in 2007, and still the highest in the nation, AAA Hawaii said.

The price of a gallon of unleaded in Honolulu declined 2 cents this week to $3.98, marking the first time since September that gas was priced less than $4 per gallon on Oahu, AAA Hawaii said. That price was 8 cents less than a month ago, but 83 cents higher than the same time last year.

On the Big Island, the average price of a gallon of unleaded in Hilo was $4.30, which was a penny less than last week, 2 cents less than last month and 83 cents higher than the same week in 2010.

On Maui, the average price of unleaded was $4.42 per gallon, which was the same as last week, but 2 cents less than last month and 46 cents higher than the same week last year.
