Shoppers Injured in Black Friday Mayhem (Update 1)

Story updated from 8:12 a.m. ET with information about additional incidents of violence on Black Friday.

NEW YORK ( TheStreet) -- There have been several incidences of violence and injuries across the United States on Black Friday with Wal-Mart (WMT), the world's largest retailer, the scene of a number of them.

A man was shot during a robbery outside of a Wal-Mart in San Leandro, Calif. The man is said to be in critical but stable condition, according to MSNBC, and it was unclear whether the person responsible for the shooting was in custody or not.

Another Black Friday shooting took place at a Wal-Mart in Myrtle Beach, S.C., where a woman was shot in the leg or foot in what appeared to be a shopping-related robbery, according to MSNBC.

There was also a suspicious package found in a refrigerator in a Wal-Mart break room in Cave Creek, Ariz., MSNBC reported.

Twenty Wal-Mart shoppers in Los Angeles were injured after a woman attacked them with pepper spray, according to multiple media reports.

Police are still looking for the woman who allegedly sprayed people who got near the merchandise she wanted. A witness told NBC4 in Los Angeles that the incident started as people waited in line for the new Xbox 360.

Wal-Mart made Black Friday headlines in 2008 when an employee was trampled to death by shoppers in Long Island, N.Y.

Given these incidences, will you continue to shop on Black Friday? Please leave a comment below.
