Cutwater Asset Management Announces Strategic Hires To Support Its Distribution Effort

Cutwater Asset Management, a fixed income specialist serving the institutional marketplace, today announced four key hires in support of its consultant relations and distribution efforts. These moves follow the appointment of Christopher P. Keating as Managing Director and Head of Global Sales and Distribution in May 2011 and highlight Cutwater’s commitment to and strategic focus on its key growth areas, including total return strategies, liability driven investing and alternative fixed income strategies.

Robert Alan will join Cutwater Asset Management in October as Managing Director and Head of Consultant Relations, having previously served as Head of North America Consultant Relations at Putnam Investments. Prior to Putnam, Mr. Alan held similar positions at Babson Capital Management and Fidelity Management Trust Company. Mr. Alan has a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Bentley University.

Charlie Hannigan has joined Cutwater as Managing Director, Institutional Sales. Mr. Hannigan previously served as Director of New Business Development at Caxton Associates. His responsibilities there included business development and investor relations for the firm’s various funds. Prior to Caxton, Mr. Hannigan held similar positions at The Carlyle Group, SAB Capital, and Andor Capital Management. Mr. Hannigan has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from The College of the Holy Cross.

Jerry Thunelius has joined the firm as Managing Director of Portfolio Management for Cutwater’s traditional strategies suite of products and oversees portfolio management for the firm’s Taft-Hartley segment. He has over 20 years of broad investment experience in fixed income portfolio management, trading and risk management. Mr. Thunelius was previously a Managing Partner and Head of Core Fixed Income Strategies at TCP Global. Prior to that, he was Director of Fixed Income at Allianz Global Investors’ Oppenheimer Capital unit and held similar positions at Gartmore Morley Financial and The Dreyfus Corporation. Mr. Thunelius has a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance from Dowling College.
