Hawaii Gas Prices Rise Another 5 Cents Per Gallon

By Pacific Business News (Honolulu)

Gas prices in Hawaii rose over the past week, with the average price for a gallon of unleaded jumping up another nickel to $4.19, according to AAA Hawaii’s Weekend Gas Watch.

The increase is on top of a 5-cent increase last week, which means the average price of gas in Hawaii has gone up 10 cents over the past two weeks.

The price of a gallon of unleaded shot up 10 cents in Hilo over the past week alone to $4.29, AAA Hawaii said. That price is 14 cents higher than last month and 78 cents more than a year ago.

Honolulu saw the second-highest increase. The average price of a gallon of unleaded rose 6 cents over the past week to $4.08, which was 2 cents lower than a month ago but 76 cents higher than a year ago.

Maui, the most expensive market surveyed by AAA Hawaii, saw the average price of gas in Wailuku go up 4 cents over the past week to $4.39 per gallon, which is only a penny off last month and 56 cents more than a year ago.
