Electromed, Inc. (NASDAQ: ELMD), maker of the SmartVest
® Airway Clearance System, has presented its first annual Distinguished Service Award to Jerry Cahill, a strong advocate in the fight against Cystic Fibrosis.
Electromed, Inc. created this award to recognize people in the community who have gone above and beyond to improve the lives of individuals with airway clearance conditions. Jerry was specifically recognized for his advocacy for and practical support of CF families.
"Electromed, Inc. recognizes the close bond which must exist among patient, physician, medical care extended staff, and families in effectively managing Cystic Fibrosis,” said Robert Hansen, Electromed, Inc. Chairman and CEO. “No one personifies the high standards of compliance, personal responsibility, and an uncompromising commitment to others who face the challenge of CF more fully or faithfully than Jerry Cahill. Just meeting Jerry is a privilege, and his enthusiasm and exemplary attitude is a source of encouragement to all of us in medical practice and the medical technology arts."
Jerry, who lives with CF himself, has been a devoted volunteer for the Boomer Esiason Foundation (BEF) since 2004, playing an integral role in all of its efforts within the CF community. Jerry leads the BEF scholarship and transplant grant programs, as well as hosts a podcast series and the CF Wind Sprint video series. Under his direction, the Foundation launched the Exercise For Life Scholarship and Team Boomer-Fighting Cystic Fibrosis athletic program. He is living, breathing proof that people living with CF can have a fulfilling life.
"I am honored to receive this Distinguished Service Award for volunteering my time and advocating for the cystic fibrosis community,” said Jerry. “To be honored for giving back is truly humbling and together we cannot fail in beating this disease.”
