Kurt Pfotenhauer Named Executive Vice President And Vice Chairman Of First American Title Insurance Company
SANTA ANA, Calif., July 25, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- First American Title Insurance Company today announced that that Kurt Pfotenhauer has joined the company as executive vice president and vice chairman.
In this role, Pfotenhauer will maintain executive-level relationships with the nation's largest money center banks and assist with political and legislative relations for the corporation.
Pfotenhauer brings to First American more than 26 years of political and financial services industry experience, most recently as chief executive officer of the American Land Title Association ( ALTA). During his tenure with ALTA, the Washington, D.C.-based national trade association for the title and real estate settlement services industry, Pfotenhauer worked with the title industry's most senior contacts within the White House, U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives.
"Everyone in the industry recognizes Kurt as a top performer. He brought record growth to ALTA in a down market, and we are confident that First American will benefit from Kurt's results-driven leadership," said Dennis Gilmore, chief executive officer of First American Financial Corporation. "Moreover, his working relationships with key mortgage industry players and government officials will bring added depth and breadth to our management of strategic opportunities."
Prior to joining ALTA, Pfotenhauer served as senior vice president of government affairs for the Mortgage Bankers Association where he was twice named one of Washington, D.C.'s top lobbyists. During the course of his career, he has also served as the chief of staff to a United States senator and as chief of staff to a member of the U.S. House of Representatives. He holds a master's degree from Yale University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Notre Dame. In his new position, Pfotenhauer will split his time between Santa Ana, CA and Washington, D.C.
