Luxury
New dining options abound in the Hamptons, with Gabby Karan setting up an outpost of Tutto il Giorno in Southampton that's been one of the darlings of summer. Her new eatery occupies a prime piece of real state, walking distance to almost anywhere in the village, with a virtuoso Italian menu that has humbled the local competition. Another standout for the season has been Almond, the Bridgehampton all-star that's taken over a coveted piece of downtown real estate with maximum curb appeal and become one of the season's hottest reservations.
In East Hampton, the owners behind Houston's Restaurants have acquired Della Famina for the East Hampton Grill, which brings a modern, local feel and brand to the corporate-owned eatery. The space has been transformed and yet manages to maintain its charm in a neighborhood that is home to such perennials as Nick and Toni's. Also new to East Hampton, the Beach House opens in the former Prime 103 space, bringing a beach-themed steakhouse with sports-style bar and patio from the owners of the Boathouse. Menu staples include a full raw bar and grilled meats aged in-house, as well as whole-wheat pastas and seafood specialties. By day much of the action gravitates toward the beach, with such stalwarts from last year as Navy Beach in Montauk doing their part to resurrect hip surf culture. South Edison offers a lively lunch scene that's a bit easier to get into than its nightly dinner -- almost always booked between 7 to 9 p.m., even during the week. In Southampton, The Bathing Club at the Capri is a DJ-fueled, European-style pool club offering a weekend tanning scene and evening parties with easy access to the in-house Nobu eatery. Those looking to step out at night find a trove of new names in familiar places. In East Hampton, SL East comes to life from the owners of New York City's SL and Tenjune with a hip-hop-style nightclub complete with weekend bottle service and VIP door staff. In Southampton, the space at 230 Elm has been turned into a weekend dance club known as The Elm, one of the season's club standouts. Those wondering what happened to Tavern will find South Pointe in its place, complete with celebrity DJs such as Calvin Harris and weekend magazine parties in a gussied-up space with crowd to match. >To submit a news tip, email: tips@thestreet.com.RELATED STORIES:
