How to Treat Dad Right on Father's Day
If you're interested in fresh, flavorful fare elegantly served in an oceanfront setting, classically trained Dean Max will not disappoint. 3030 Ocean in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., is a perfect place to take your dad after an afternoon of sailing and fishing. The freshest ingredients are used in his daily changing menu, recently showcased at the James Beard House in New York City. For seafood-loving dads, this is the place to be.
If you'd just rather stay home and throw dad a barbecue, try taking it up a notch with meat from Manhattan's meatpacking district, where Debragga & Spitler supplies some of the finest chefs in the business, including: Adour Alain Ducasse, Craft, Jean Georges, Le Bernardin, Le Cirque and Veritas. Kobe, Wagyu, angus wet- or dry-aged steaks and Mangalitsa pork, they have it all. How's that for a decadent barbecue? For the golfer, the perfect spot is The Country Club at Wynn(WYNN) Las Vegas. Dad can play 18 holes on the Tom Fazio/Steve Wynn-designed course, then dine with a view of the majestic greens, including the final hole's cascading waterfall. A steakhouse that serves traditional classics, The Country Club is elevated to a higher level by Chef Carlos Guia, an alumni of Lutece and Le Bernardin. You want a burger? How about a Kobe beef carpaccio with black truffle vinaigrette and parmesan? Enjoy! For the beer aficionado, Colicchio & Sons recently opened The Lot on Tap in collaboration with Friends of the High Line. The temporary outdoor bar is part of the pop-up public plaza under the High Line and the perfect place to sample local beers with local produce. Its rotation of brews includes Brooklyn High Line Elevated Wheat, made with ingredients from New York State, which The Brooklyn Brewery brewed exclusively for Friends of the High Line. Dad can also enjoy New York City's best street food from a series of food trucks, including Red Hook Lobster lobster rolls, Taim Mobile falafels and The Taco Truck's tacos. If your schedules doesn't sync with dad's for a meal, how about a gift of tequila with a prestigious pedigree? Look no further than Casa Dragones, the cult sipping tequila that has taken off with taste masters across the country. Bob Pittman, former COO of Time Warner(TWX) and founder of the Pilot Group and MTV, and Bertha Gonzalez Nieves, the first maestra tequilera, founded this rare style of 100% blue agave joven tequila, earning fans such as Martha Stewart and Eric Ripert along with top sommeliers and tequila aficionados for its smooth taste. Perfection can by pricey, though. The tequila sells for $275 per a 750 ml bottle. But isn't dad is worth it? >To submit a news tip, email: tips@thestreet.com.RELATED STORIES:
