PlayStation To Be Back Up by Week's End
TOKYO (TheStreet) -- Sony (SNE) said Tuesday it will restore services of its PlayStation Network in all regions expect Japan, Hong Kong and South Korea by the end of the week.
The Japanese electronics and entertainment company was forced to shut down its PlayStation Network last month after it was hacked. Sony said last week that costs related to the security breaches that have affected more than 100 million online accounts is expected at about 14 billion yen.
"We have been conducting additional testing and further security verification of our commerce functions in order to bring the PlayStation Network completely back online so that our fans can again enjoy the first class entertainment experience they have come to love," said Kazuo Hirai, Sony's executive deputy president, in a statement Tuesday.
Sony said details for PlayStation services in Japan, Hong Kong, and South Korea will be announced as they become available.
