Jamaica PM Takes Over Energy Agency
KINGSTON, Jamaica (AP) — Jamaica's prime minister has taken over management of the Caribbean country's energy and mining ministry a day after the agency's minister resigned.
Prime Minister Bruce Golding doesn't say how long he will oversee the energy ministry. James Roberton resigned from the post Tuesday, shortly after disclosing that the U.S. State Department had revoked his visitor visa. Robertson says he was not informed why U.S. visas for him and his wife were withdrawn, but he speculates the decision could be tied to a businessman's allegations that Robertson was involved in a murder-for-hire plot.
