They Just Won't Quit

10/04/00 - 12:30 AM EDT

Gary B. Smith

I heard on Tuesday from quite a few folks who either had planned to be traders or had just started out as traders. (I apologize for not getting back to most of you, as my email box continues to burst at the seams.)

Now, maybe I just heard from the hearty souls. Or maybe I just heard from the most diligent. Or maybe those who have already washed out, or were about to and were too embarrassed to say anything.

But to a man -- and woman -- no one said they were tossing in the towel! No one said, "Enough!" No one said, "Hey, I'm working way too hard, for too little money."

I don't know what to make of all this, other than to say that I'm surprised.

OK, that does it for another day. A day where I seriously hope this market throws something a little harder at us than these lame-o 100-point intraday round trips!
