Google Close to U.S. OK on ITA Deal
MOUNTAIN VIEW, California (TheStreet) -- Google's (GOOG) acquisition of airline ticketing software company ITA Software is close to being approved by the Justice Department, according to reports.
Google reached an agreement in July to buy ITA for $700 million in cash.
One condition of Justice Department approval would touch on licensing of ITA products to Google rivals, Reuters reported, citing a source.
The Wall Street Journal , citing people familiar with the discussions, said the agreement with the Justice Department would allow government antitrust monitoring of a part of Google's operations to assure the search giant doesn't unfairly use ITA's airline data to put rivals at a disadvantage.
