MTP/NOR: Northwestern Buying Unit of Montana Power

 

And merger mania in the power sector continues. Northwestern(NOR Quote) announced plans to buy Montana Power's(MTP Quote) energy distribution unit. Northwestern will pay about $1.1 billion for the unit. The acquisition includes $488 million of existing Montana Power debt.
