SMTC Corporation Appoints New Board Director

TORONTO, Feb. 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ - SMTC Corporation (Nasdaq: SMTX) (TSX: SMX), a global electronics manufacturing services (EMS) provider, announced today the appointment of Mr. Claude Germain to its Board of Directors. Mr. Germain brings extensive supply chain, operating and strategic leadership experience to the SMTC board.

Currently, Mr. Germain is Managing Partner and Principal for Rouge River Capital Ltd., a merchant bank focused on midmarket industrial and supply chain businesses. He also serves on the board of TAL International Group, Inc. as well as several private company boards. Previously, he served as Managing Director of Schenker Canada, a leading logistics company from 2005 to 2010. Prior to joining Schenker, Mr. Germain was Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Cube Route. He was also Chief Operating Officer and Co-Founder of Grocery Gateway Inc; President of a Texas-based third party logistics firm; and a management consultant for The Boston Consulting Group.

Mr. Germain is a graduate of the Harvard Business School, where he received a master of business administration degree. He also has a bachelor of science degree in engineering physics from Queens University.
