Tuesday Morning Corporation Announces Second Quarter Fiscal 2011 Sales

DALLAS, Jan. 11, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Tuesday Morning Corporation (Nasdaq:TUES) today reported net sales for the second quarter ended December 31, 2010 were $279.3 million compared to $289.6 million for the quarter ended December 31, 2009, a decrease of 3.6%. Comparable store sales for the quarter ended December 31, 2010 decreased by 3.2% comprised of a 2.9% decrease in traffic and a 0.3% decrease in ticket. For the six-month period ended December 31, 2010, net sales were $452.6 million compared to $455.5 million during the same period last year. Comparable store sales for the six-month period ended December 31, 2010 decreased 0.5%.

Based on the second quarter sales results, the Company currently expects diluted earnings per share for the second quarter ended December 31, 2010 to be in the range of $0.39 to $0.41. Diluted earnings per share were $0.43 for the quarter ended December 31, 2009.

Kathleen Mason, President and Chief Executive Officer stated, "Although we did not achieve a comparable sales increase for the quarter, against last year's strong 5.1% increase, we are in good inventory position heading into the 3 rd quarter. We will continue to focus on our product offerings, real estate portfolio, and profitability."
