ECB Announces The Promotion Of Will Sampson To Senior Vice President And Chief Information Officer

A. Dwight Utz, President and CEO of ECB Bancorp, Inc. and East Carolina Bank (ECB), recently announced that Will Sampson was promoted to Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer by the bank’s Board of Directors.

Mr. Utz stated, “Since Will’s arrival at the bank, he has led the Information Technology and Bank Operations teams in developing a robust roadmap for the bank’s future. A fundamentally sound technology roadmap is critical in our ability to leverage technology to heighten the customer experience. Will continues to demonstrate his leadership and critical thinking skills and I look forward to his significant contributions to the executive leadership team.”

Mr. Sampson joined ECB in January 2010 as Vice President and Chief Information Officer. During his time with the bank, he has played a key role in evaluating and upgrading critical technology functions. Mr. Sampson was recently named Co-Executive Sponsor and Project Manager for the bank’s core processing conversion project scheduled for May 2011.

“ECB has a longstanding tradition of providing a superior customer experience in all aspects of banking services,” said Mr. Sampson. “I have been challenged to elevate the customer experience by implementing a new suite of technology products designed to support ECB team members and exceed customer expectations. The new suite of products will provide state of the art interfaces for our team members and customers. In turn, our team members will be able to focus on taking the customer experience to the next level.”

All combined, Mr. Sampson brings over 10 years of Information Technology Management experience to ECB. Prior to joining the bank, he was employed by Gateway Bank and Hampton Roads Bankshares serving as the lead manager for IT and Operational functions. Mr. Sampson’s educational background includes graduating from ECPI College of Technology, Western Governors University, NCBA School of Banking. He is currently enrolled in the MBA program at Western Governors University. He is a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps and serves as Junior Vice Commandant with the Marine Corps League Albemarle Detachment 1258.
