Informix Drops on Warning
Informix (IFMX Quote) fell 17.5% in preopen Island trading after saying it would post a third-quarter loss of 5 to 8 cents per share. The First Call/Thomson Financial estimate called for a 2-cent profit. The database software maker also said it would post break-even results in the fourth quarter and a 5-cent profit in the first quarter. Analysts had been expecting a 6-cent profit in the fourth quarter and a 5-cent profit in the first quarter.
