Aetna Recognizes Six-Month Anniversary Of Historic Health Care Reform Legislation

Aetna (NYSE: AET) today released the following statement from Chairman and CEO Ronald A. Williams regarding the six-month anniversary of the passage of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA).

“Today we mark a significant milestone as we begin applying the 2010 requirements of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. These requirements are an important step toward helping all Americans gain access to health care and I am proud to say that we are ready. We also have been working closely with our customers to help them comply with the new regulations.

“As we look ahead, we must set our sights on the most important issues facing our health care system and the American public, the issues of quality and affordability. We know that the way to truly bend the cost curve is to promote quality health care that leads to better health outcomes, which ultimately results in lower costs. We are committed to working with all stakeholders to secure access to quality, affordable health care for all Americans.”
