Futures Rise as Euro Markets Recover
BP(BP) may also receive some attention following the release of its report on the oil spill today. The company said that no single factor caused the oil spill. The stock was gaining 3%, or $1.29, to $38.48 in premarket trading.
U.K. telecommunications company Vodafone(VOD) said it would sell its 3.2% stake in China mobile for 4.3 billion pounds, or $6.65 billion. Onyx Pharmaceuticals(ONXX) announced that it had sold Japanese rights of its multiple myeloma drug candidate carfilzomib to Japanese drug maker Ono Pharmaceuticals. In commodity markets, crude oil for October delivery was off by 29 cents to trade at $73.80 a barrel, and the December gold contract was higher by $2, trading at $1,261 an ounce. Gold prices closed at a new high on Tuesday as investors flocked to safe-haven assets.
The benchmark 10-year Treasury note was down by 3/32, strengthening the yield to 2.607%.
Meanwhile, the dollar was trading slightly weaker against a basket of currencies, with the dollar index lower by 0.2%.
