Brent Beachy Named Vice President & General Manager, Minteq Metallurgical Wire Products

Minerals Technologies Inc. (NYSE: MTX) announced today that Brent Beachy has been named Vice President and General Manager of Minteq Global Metallurgical Wire Products, effective September 1.

Metallurgical Wire Products, which is more than a $75 million business within the company’s Refractories segment, produces a number of technologically advanced products for the steel industry, including solid-core calcium wire and a number of ferro-alloy wire specialty treatment products that are injected into molten steel to improve castability and reduce impurities in the production of high-quality steel. The product line also produces calcium metal for use in the manufacture of batteries and magnets. The company recently entered into a distribution agreement in China for this product line, and expects Metallurgical Wire Products to become an important part of the company’s growth prospects in Asia.

Brent Beachy joined Minerals Technologies in 1992 as sales representative—Paper PCC. He moved through positions of increasing responsibility including business manager—Coating Business Team and Regional Sales Manager—Paper PCC. In 2003 he became business development manager—Minteq Industrial Refractory Systems. In 2005, he became regional marketing director—Americas, then moved to business director— USA in 2007, and business director—Asia in 2008.

Mr. Beachy holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Economics from Allegheny College and a MBA from the University of Pittsburgh.
