Kinross Gold Names New Chief Operating Officer

Gold producer Kinross Gold Corp. said Wednesday it has named Brant Hinze as chief operating officer to succeed Tim Baker, whose retirement was announced earlier this year.
Hinze is a former senior vice president of North American operations for Newmont Mining Corp.. He will take over duties as Kinross COO on Oct. 1.
Hinze oversaw eight operating mines, 11 processing facilities, and regional exploration and development activities for Newmont. He also led the corporate social responsibility, information technology, supply chain, legal and human resources functions in his region.
From 2002 to 2005, Hinze served as general manager of Newmont's Yanacocha Project in Peru, which at its peak was the largest producing gold mine in the world. Prior to Yanacocha, he managed other operations for the company in the U.S., Bolivia and Indonesia. Toronto-based Kinross is a gold mining company with mines and projects in Canada, the United States, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador and Russia. It employs 5,500 people worldwide. U.S.-listed shares of Kinross rose 27 cents to close earlier at $15.72.Select the service that is right for you!
