Quaker Chem Buys Houghton Aluminum Hot Roll Unit
CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa. (AP) — Quaker Chemical Corp. said Friday it has acquired an aluminum hot rolling oil business from Houghton International in a move to expand its primary metals business.
The D.A. Stuart business had 2009 sales of $7 million. Quaker Chairman, President and CEO Michael F. Barry said the aluminum hot rolling market has strong long-term growth prospects, especially in emerging economies such as Russia, South America, Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Asia. Quaker Chemical makes products and services for the steel, automotive, mining, aerospace, tube and pipe, coatings and construction industries. For the year ended Dec. 31, the company posted sales of $451.5 million. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
