Goldcorp Buys 15 Percent Of Evolving Gold

Canadian mining company Goldcorp Inc. said on Friday that it bought a stake in Evolving Gold Corp. for 15.6 million Canadian dollars (about $15 million). Goldcorp said it paid 82 Canadian cents (about 78 cents) per share for approximately 15 percent of the outstanding shares of Evolving Gold Corp., which is exploring a discovery in Rattlesnake Hills, Wyo., and on properties around the Carlin district in northern Nevada. Goldcorp said it bought the stake for investment purposes, and does not plan to increase its ownership. Shares of Goldcorp rose 98 cents, or 2.4 percent, to close at $41.59.TheStreet Premium Services
