Mellanox® Technologies, Ltd. (NASDAQ:MLNX)(TASE:MLNX), a leading supplier of high-performance, end-to-end connectivity solutions for data center servers and storage systems, today announced that its industry-leading end-to-end 40Gb/s InfiniBand connectivity products, including ConnectX®-2 adapters and IS5600 switches with FabricIT™ fabric management software, provide the high-performance server and storage networking for Dawning’s new supercomputer to be installed at the Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology (SIAT) in southern China. The new supercomputer, codenamed “Nebula”, is the fastest HPC system ever built in China, and is ranked as the second high-performing system in the world as publicized on the June 2010 TOP500 List of supercomputers with a sustainable Linpack benchmark performance of 1.271 Petaflops.
A leader in HPC and Cloud Computing technologies in China, Dawning continues its system performance leadership with the addition of the new “Nebula” supercomputer which sets a new record in performance as China’s top supercomputer. In addition to Mellanox’s 40Gb/s InfiniBand high-speed networking, “Nebula” is fully architected and constructed with Dawning’s TC3600 blade server technologies for the compute nodes. Dawning’s TC3600 blade servers are also the first in the world to conform to the industry’s SSI standard, as well as China’s HPCSC standard.
“We are very proud to lead China’s effort in HPC and Cloud Computing technologies in catching up with the world,” said Jun Li, CEO and President of Dawning. “We are also pleased with the joint effort with our partner Mellanox for successfully building up the Nebula system. We certainly look forward to working together continuously in China’s market, to deliver outstanding performance, unprecedented reliability and superb efficiency to our mutual customers.”“The world’s largest and top performing clusters are choosing Mellanox 40Gb/s InfiniBand to connect their server and storage systems due to the inherent efficiency and performance benefits, as well as advanced offload features for optimal CPU and GPU performance,” said Eyal Waldman, CEO and President of Mellanox Technologies. “Mellanox connectivity products are supporting the growing needs of scientists and researchers worldwide with higher application performance, faster job runtimes, and system efficiency capabilities that deliver real return-on-investment.”
