The Swedish Crown Princess Victoria will marry Daniel Westling in Stockholm on the 19
of June 2010. The City of Stockholm honors the marriage with a two week celebration: LOVE Stockholm 2010. It is now official who will be responsible for getting the entire event online. The Swedish network provider DataCom, who last summer delivered the network for Volvo Ocean Race in Stockholm, has stepped in as Official Supplier to LOVE Stockholm 2010 and will provide the whole event with high-speed Internet access. To ensure a quality delivery DataCom has selected Meru Networks as the wireless solution and Swedish security company Clavister for firewall protection.
The assignment from the City of Stockholm is to provide media center, theme areas and hot spots around the city with fast wireless connections. The Media Centre, which is the largest and most complex ever built in Sweden, will have to deal with approximately 3,000 working journalists during the period. To handle that communication pressure requires proven wireless technology. DataCom has selected Meru Networks (NASDAQ:MERU), as the wireless network provider to ensure coverage across the City of Stockholm, particularly in high density areas such as the Media Centre where large files such as photos and videos are transmitted from the event to news centers around the world. Meru Networks was selected because of the company’s proven ability to support a large number of concurrent users with predictable and reliable wireless coverage. In fact, Meru’s virtualized wireless infrastructure has been the solution of choice for large events, having recently provided wireless coverage to several of the major hotels during the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.
The task to keep the whole wedding party online includes network security. Swedish network security specialist Clavister will provide protection for incoming and outgoing internet traffic via specialized firewalls to ensure that nothing inappropriate takes place and that information and online users are protected.
