E & E Wins Contract To Support Great Lakes Restoration

LANCASTER, N.Y., May 4, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Ecology and Environment, Inc., (E & E) (Nasdaq:EEI) has been awarded a five-year, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract with a ceiling of $12 million for ecosystem restoration and environmental consulting services by the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Buffalo District. Work will be performed primarily as part of the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI) within USACE's Buffalo, Chicago, and Detroit Districts but could also include services throughout USACE's Great Lakes and Ohio River Division boundaries.

The scope of services comprises a variety of activities aimed to protect and restore the Great Lakes ecosystem, such as water and sediment quality studies, contaminated sediment remediation, ecological restoration, watershed planning, and invasive species control and management. Other services in support of GLRI or related Civil Works projects may also be assigned, such as writing NEPA documents, conducting environmental impact analysis, cultural resource/archaeological investigations, and impact analysis, and developing wetland/stream design for mitigation. Work will be managed from E & E's Buffalo headquarters with key support from other Great Lakes regional offices.

Company President and CEO Kevin Neumaier, P.E., said, "The Great Lakes contain more than 20 percent of the world's fresh surface water. E & E is proud to be providing ecological restoration and planning work to support the USACE Buffalo and the EPA Great Lakes National Program Office under this important contract."

Craig Forgette, the Corps of Engineers Great Lakes Regional Sediment Program Manager, said, "President Obama created the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative, directing $475 million in 2010 to implement restoration of the entire Great Lakes. The Corps and E & E have worked successfully together for many years. We are looking forward to E & E helping us accomplish this important mission."

In its 40 year history, E & E has completed more than 45,000 projects for a wide variety of clients in 84 countries, providing environmental solutions in nearly every ecosystem on the planet. E & E is listed on the NASDAQ under the symbol EEI. Further information on the company can be found at www.ene.com .
