MATECH Corp. Discusses: American Society Of Civil Engineers Estimates That Nation Faces A $2.2 Trillion Infrastructure Backlog
MATECH Corp. (OTCBB: MTCH) (MATECH) announces that the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) estimates that the United States currently faces a $2.2 trillion infrastructure backlog, a stark reminder of the nation’s growing infrastructure crises.
Founded in 1852, the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) is the nation’s oldest national engineering society. The ASCE represents more than 144,000 members of the civil engineering profession worldwide. The ASCE is dedicated to providing essential value to its members, its partners, and the public at large. Headquartered in Reston, Virginia, ASCE is the world's largest publisher of civil engineering information, producing more than 55,000 pages of technical content annually. In an April 2010 article in GOVERNING magazine, Donald F. Ketti, Dean of the School of Public Policy at the University of Maryland, discussed the nation’s looming infrastructure crises: “The problem is huge--and it's growing,” writes Ketti. “The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) estimates that the nation faces a $2.2 trillion infrastructure backlog. One of every eight bridges is 'structurally deficient,' and 85 percent of public transit systems are struggling to carry the growing number of riders.” Somewhere in America a bridge fails every week—despite the $400 million spent on inspection every year. These closures and collapses are due to the shocking inefficiencies of current bridge inspection methods, in which 90% of fatigue cracks are missed, and over 80% of so-called “cracks” found by inspectors are later proved to be false positives. It is clear that a cost effective solution that saves both money and lives is needed to secure the nation’s infrastructure. MATECH’s proprietary Electrochemical Fatigue Sensor is the answer to this problem. The revolutionary technology has proven its efficacy on over 25 bridges in 10 different states for various DOT’s (Department of Transportation) as well as railroads across the nation.
